Wilmington Resort Map Featured on TV6 News- January 2009

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The slumping economy is forcing some business owners to think outside the box when it comes to advertising.

Peter and Mary Kurki owns a unique map business that has published 400,000 maps.

According to the couple, any business that buys an ad with their company, The Wilmington and Brunswick County Franchise of Resort Maps, will be featured on a map.

The ads cost about $625, but the maps are free to the public.

"People embrace them," said Peter Kurki who makes Wilmington and Brunswick County resort maps. "They take it home with them up north or to the west coast. And tell all their friends and family we went here and there and all the great places they eat."

The resort map company says they normally get a high request from people who are having weddings in our area.
